Jill Frappier is a veteran Canadian actor. Her professional career spans more than 45 years. Jill was born in Lord Louis Mountbatten’s stately home in England. She came to Canada 50 years ago to be one of the 20 British hostesses at the British pavilion at EXPO 67. She met her first husband Roger Frappier in the pavilion. They both had big dreams. Jill wanted to act; Roger wanted to make movies.
She started her career in Montreal with film dubbing using the rhythm- band method and then began a long theatrical career. She has performed at Stratford and Shaw festivals and at almost every major theatre across Canada. Once she went “from sea to shining sea”, performing Lysistrata in The Applecart in Halifax Nova Scotia followed by Vivien in Nurse Jane Goes to Hawaii in Victoria BC.
Jill has appeared in a variety of TV shows. Most recently:- Saving Hope, The Strain, Man Seeking Woman, Murdoch Mysteries, National Geographic’s Cradle to Grave. Commercials in 2016:- Colgate, Expedia, Canadian Tire, Intact insurance and Smarties. She was the voice of British Airways for 2 years in the 1970s.
She is particularly fond of voice work and has enjoyed a variety of roles in CBC radio plays and, of course, she has voiced many cartoon characters. She is best known for her cat! She played Luna in Sailor Moon, which still has a multitude of fans. Jill enjoys meeting them at various Anime Conventions. Other cartoon roles : Keroppi in Keroppi, Fifi in Hello Kitty, Mrs Prysellius in Pippi Longstocking, Bitsy in Braceface, Aunte Yorkshire in Pecola, Doucette in Anatole, Little Mutt inAnimal Shelf, and Jane’s Mom in Jane & the Dragon. Last year Jill did her first motion capture for Ubisoft. She played Mary Anne Disraeli in Assassin’S Creed Victory, set in Victorian England.
Her most famous co star was probably Christopher Plummer. She played his wife 30 years ago in the mlniseries Spearfield’s Daughter. She also appeared in Strange Brew starring and directed by Bob and Doug Mackenzie, who were HUGE at the time.
Jill performs in French too. She was in Une Nuit en Amerique with Robert Rivard and starred in Elisa Quatre. She played Jacques Godin’s wife in Samuel et La Mer, the TV miniseries.
Jill has written 8 plays for young audiences and performed her stories in schools theatres and on the radio. She ran her own drama school for children and teens called Dragontrails for 20 years. She is presently working on a one woman show and preparing more of her unique pottery for the next One of a Kind show. At present Jill, who adores cats, only has one, Flossie.
